Aabaha Premiered “The Game” at Colure 2024, a Theater Festival Organized by Chicago Natyo Goshthi with a Thrilling Tale of Ego, Greed, and Revenge.

“The Game”, Aabaha’s masterful adaptation of Anthony Shaffer’s “Sleuth”, captivated audiences at Colure 2024, a premier theater festival organized by Chicago Natyo Goshthi. The production, performed to a packed house, received widespread acclaim for its gripping narrative, layered performances, and immersive theatrical experience.

This marks the third consecutive year that Aabaha has premiered a production at Colure. In 2023, Aabaha wowed audiences with "Lost Inheritance", a poignant play by renowned playwright Manoj Mitra, directed by Kallol Nandi. The previous year, in 2022, the group presented "A Modern Story', an innovative work by playwright Mainak Sengupta, also directed by Nandi. Aabaha’s consistent presence at Colure underscores its commitment to delivering high-quality, thought-provoking theater to audiences in the Greater Chicago area.

Set in an opulent yet ominous mansion, "The Game" begins innocently with a seemingly straightforward invitation. What follows is a complex and thrilling battle of wits between a crime writer and his wife’s lover. As layers of deceit unravel, the tension escalates, keeping the audience on the edge of their seats until the final moments.

Actors Kallol Nandi and Shubhagato Bhattacharjee delivered electrifying performances, portraying their characters with precision and intensity. The minimalist yet impactful set design and evocative lighting by Pranjal Karmakar heightened the suspense, while the clever use of props and sound effects added depth and texture to the unfolding drama.

The audience was particularly captivated by the play’s open-ended conclusion, which left room for interpretation and sparked lively post-show discussions. “It’s not just a play; it’s an experience that lingers with you long after the curtain falls,” remarked an audience member.

Playwright and director Shubhagato Bhattacharjee shared his vision behind the production: “Our goal was to delve into universal themes of ego, greed, and revenge while delivering a tightly woven thriller. The response from the audience has been overwhelming and humbling.”

Aabaha’s The Game is a testament to the enduring power of theater to challenge perceptions, ignite conversations, and push creative boundaries. Its success at Colure 2024 reinforces Aabaha’s reputation as a leading force in the local and regional theater scene.
