Global Art USA National Competition
Global Art USA held its 2010 National Competition on Sunday,
October 17th, at North Gwinnett High School.
Over 90 students of Global Art enthusiastically participated in
the event. All the entrants painstakingly prepared for the
prestigious competition weeks in advance - stretching their
imagination to the extreme and perfecting their techniques.
The theme of the national competition “1 World” was
thought-provoking providing the participants ample opportunities
to showcase their creativity.
The less experienced students experimented with the various
coloring, shading, and blending techniques they had learned in
their bid to create a vibrant and appealing work of art.
Students with more advanced skills had to fully deploy all the
knowledge they had assimilated over time – apart from exercising
their own creative skills.

The competition lasted two hours and while the students were
focusing on their creative energies, the parents were treated to
a cultural program.
The first of the three performances was a Lion Dance by Hung Gar
Kung Fu of Duluth, GA. The performers dressed in huge, authentic
Asian lion costumes presented a spectacular show faithfully
conforming to the rhythm of a huge drum. Lettuce and oranges
were placed in front of the stage for the lions to “eat” and
throw into the audience and there was excitement all round.
The second performance was a live music by Raaga Rush. The
troupe, consisting predominantly of student musicians, cast a
spell over the audience with both new hits as well as old
favorites. The performance was repeatedly greeted with warm
applause.
The final act was a dance performance by students of Planet-U.
Its Director/Owner Mrs. Uma Muralidhar choreographed the
fantastic medley with rare expertise. The performance really
stood out making the audience delirious with joy.
As the cultural program drew to a close, the students had
completed the competition and waited with suspense for the
results.

The director of Global Art USA, Mrs. Sudha Gopalakrishnan, came
on stage to say a few words and announce the names of the
winners. She introduced Honorable Shiv Aggarwal, the Chief Guest
of the evening who spoke a few words lauding the event and
presented the awards.
All the competing students assembled on stage and winners of
each group were asked at random to come forward. Then the names
of runner-ups and champions were announced. Consolation prizes
were also given. Every student received a trophy and certificate
as well for participating and putting in their best efforts.
The Champions of the three groups Suraj Chatoth, Isha Rastogi
and Pooja Sharma were offered a FREE round trip plane ticket to
India to participate in the Global Art International Competition
2010 that is being held this year in Hyderabad, India, on
November 27th.
