MUNNI BEGUM CONCERT
By Rajshree Mudaliar. A
For all the Ghazal and Sufi lovers of the sub-continent it
was a vocal fiesta on the mother day week end. The artist was
none other than MUNNI BEGUM, who is a mother herself and
dedicated the evening to all mothers. It was a treat for me
straight in a row for two years. Munni Begum was here on Jan
26th last year and again on May 9th. 2014, this is a clear
indicator for her popularity in Atlanta area and I am highly
benevolent to Mr. Ramzan Ali Virani of Atlanta Events Hall,
Duluth, GA for organizing this event consequently for two years.

I am amazed at the reasonable pricing of his tickets for the
event which comes with the great food he offers alongside free
chai and soft drinks. The food from Café Bombay was very
delicious. The cash bar had its own attractions, many guest
enjoyed the evening as Munni Begum sang Jhoom Barabari jhoom
sharabi….. During the event there was a slide show of all the
sponsors from Indo-Pak community supporting this event. One of
the slides indicated Atlanta Events Hall organizing a “TALENT
SHOW” for the South Asian community in the near future, a show
for all age groups in vocals; instrumentals; poetry recitals and
comedy. I am surely looking forward for the show.
Further, I am surprised by the stamina of Munni Begum as she
continuously sang for 4 hours without a break. She responded to
every single singing request of the guests and made all of us
extremely happy. The opening and the closing statements of the
event was composed very well by Mrs. Pakistan 2nd runner up Mrs.
Shumaila Lalani. Finally, I should commend the artist for her
simplicity to let people take pictures with her after the show
and also providing some useful tips to the upcoming artists.
