BAPS Charities Hosts Community Walk in Support of
Children's Healthcare of Atlanta
Vandan Patel from Lilburn woke up early on a Saturday, May 4,
2013. Vandan was thrilled knowing that his efforts were going to
make a profound impact in the community. For the last two
months, Vandan took up the cause of raising funds to support the
local BAPS Charities Walk. "When I heard the stories of the kids
that Children's Healthcare of Atlanta helped, I was inspired to
help raise money. My grandmother and I went to local
neighborhoods to help collect money," said Vandan, "The entire
experience was phenomenal and I am glad I participated in the
event."
The 2013 BAPS Charities walk in Atlanta will help support
Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. Children's Healthcare of
Atlanta is a non-profit that specializes in pediatric care and
the walk will help support their mission in helping young
children.

This year’s walkathon brought together over 400 walkers who
braved persistent rain and wind. Walkers of all ages convened in
Lilburn to show their support of the charities. The walk
launched with a traditional prayer for world peace followed by
an opening speech. Dr. Shubhang Majmuder shared, "I am a
physician and seeing this walk today reminds me of why we should
help others."
Upon completing the walk, Hinel Patel proudly stated, “Rain or
shine, I am glad I completed this walk. It was a wonderful
opportunity for my entire family to come together and contribute
to something that creates a positive impact in our community”.
Numerous volunteers were also there early to help make the event
a success. Shashwat Patel, a BAPS Charities volunteer, remarked,
"I had the special privilege of helping coordinate this event by
helping registering walkers for the event and also helping in
the set up of the event. This beneficial and exuberant event
brings me immense satisfaction and gives me an ecstatic feeling
that I have really helped someone in need."

Similar walks took place in over 40 cities throughout North
America wherein over 13,000 participants walked over 45,000
miles. In addition to annual walkathons, BAPS Charities hosts
health fairs, Children’s health and safety day programs,
education and career development seminars, disaster relief
operations, blood drives and much more. BAPS Charities sincerely
serves the community, by improving the quality of life of
individuals and families.
