OVER 270 TREATED AT the 27th SAI HEALTH FAIR
at the Hindu Temple
of Atlanta, Riverdale, GA.

Over 270 people attended the 27th SAI Health Fair, co-sponsored
by North American Telugu Association (NATA) held at the Hindu
Temple of Atlanta, Riverdale, Georgia, on Saturday, July 30. The
Health Fair, as always, was spearheaded by well-known physician,
Dr. Sujatha Reddy as a tribute to the life and legacy of
Dr.Martin Luther King, Jr., and Mahatma Gandhi and also to
promote their philosophies of Non-violence, community selfless
service and Social justice. The event was strongly supported by
Muthalamada Sneham Charities, physicians, health care
professionals and volunteers.
Over 270 people of diverse nationalities and cultures from all
over Atlanta availed themselves of the free consultancy and
tests services provided by over 38 dedicated physicians
representing 19 specialties,6 nurses and EKG technicians and
over 40 service-oriented volunteers including from Emory Medical
School, who attended to the various health related concerns of
the people after they registered for blood tests, free EKGs;
free glaucoma and vision screenings; preventive Cardiology
tests, free Bone Density tests to detect osteoporosis and free
Consultancy in, dermatology, orthopedics, dentistry;
endocrinology, Internal Medicine, Cardiology, , ENT,
gastroenterology, , ophthalmology, chiropractic medicine
,physical therapy, chronic pain, Gynecology, and Physical Rehab
Medicine. The owner and head instructor Nina Prissakari of Body
& Brain Holistic Yoga Center in Marietta, Georgia and her
colleague Elaine Simmester, a clinical reflexologist
demonstrated an interesting aura imaging equipment. The shape
and color of aura reflects the state of one’s body, mind and
spirit. The aura can be seen in an aura picture from a bio feed-
back hand sensor of the aura equipment.
Many, including elderly and disabled people, lined-up as early
as 7.00 a.m. The spacious and well- lighted hall had neatly laid
out tables, and comfortable seating arrangements for the
attendees. The physicians, nurses and volunteers treated all
with cheerfulness, courtesy and dignity and in a relaxed manner.
Over 153 EKGs were carried out by Southern Heart Specialists,
Riverdale, Georgia. Over 70 vision and Glaucoma screening tests,
were done. Bone Mineral Density screening tests were in big
demand More than 57 bone-density tests, were performed by a team
of Madhusudhana Siddagunta, Vijaya Reddy, and Leela Kaul.
Majority of the attendees wanted Blood tests. This time the
blood tests were carried out on 23rd July, so that consultations
over the results could be done on 30th July. Over 210 cost
–effective, basic quality comprehensive Chemistry profile of
blood tests with PSA, and HBA1c were carried out at a nominal
fee of $25 per test. The lab work was provided by American Labs.
Clinical Inc.in Stone Mountain. It is noteworthy that the
results of the blood work were mailed within 48 hours! The test
results helped identify some life threatening results which were
immediately notified to the participants.
Emory University had set up an impressive and educative display
for its SHAPE study by Global Diabetes Research Center.
Some patients also availed of the services provided by
Chiropractic rehab, and Atlanta Spine Center. Atlanta’s well
known Personal and Group Fitness instructor and Lifestyle
Management coach,Aarti Patel rendered great service by
conducting fitness exercise classes and giving nutrition advice.
Snacks and beverages for all the participants were provided by
the priest Phani Tummala. Charter Anchor Hospital, Forest Park
kindly provided fruit trays, water bottles, cookies and fruit
juice, while the, NATA President, A.V.N. Reddy, arranged for
delicious lunch for all the doctors, nurses and volunteers.
SAI Health Fair publicity and coverage was carried by Khabar
magazine; India Abroad, India Tribune, Nripulse.com, wownow.com;
JanDarpan.com; Kavitachhibber.com and Atlantadunia.com. In
addition, presidents of several local Associations also helped
to notify their members about the Health Fair. Ravi Ponangi and
Mahadev Desai did the press coverage.

An ebullient NATA President ,who with his physician wife had
travelled from Houston,Texas, to participate in the SAI Health
Fair commented,” Both my wife and I are very happy to be here
and very impressed with the encouraging turnout at this Health
Fair.NATA which was formed in November 2010 is growing by leaps
and bounds. We already have over 4,000 members across the
nation.NATA believes in organizing and supporting as many
humanitarian outreach causes as possible. We have organized
health fairs, job fairs, legal services fairs, etc. I wish to
thank the President of the Hindu Temple, Jayasree Moparthy and
SAI Health Fair’s Dr.Sujatha Reddy, and all the self-less
service providers.”
NATA Regional Vice President Bala Indurti said that he was glad
that NATA had sponsored the Sai Health Fair at the Hindu Temple
of Atlanta. He thanked all volunteers and NATA Regional
Coordinators Ravi kandimalla, Srini Vangimalla, Srinivas kotlure,
Ramana Doddla, Phani Dokka, Venkat Mondeddu, Ravi Singareddy,
Srinivas Poondru who attended the venue on both days to render
voluntary services at the Health Fair.
Indurti further stated that NATA President Sri. AVN Reddy,
President elect Dr. Sanjeeva Reddy and EVP Rajeshwar Reddy
Gangasani participated in 2nd phase of Sai Health Fair. Dr.
Sanjeeva Reddy who is specialized in GI checked patients also
participated in the Health Fair. NATA President AVN Reddy
felicitated Dr. Sujatha Reddy and Hindu Temple of Atlanta
President Dr. Jayasree Moparthy with Trophies to mark the
occasion. NATA also thanked and presented the physicians with
trophies and volunteers and Technicians with certificates.

An elated Dr. Sujatha Reddy thanked the State Representative,
James Beverly, District 139,Macon for his graceful presence at
the SAI Health Fair, Hindu Temple President, Dr. Jayasree
Moparthy for providing the accommodation and help in staging the
Health Fair, NATA President, A.V.N.Reddy and NATA Regional Vice
President Bala Indurti for sponsoring the Health Fair and also
presenting Trophies to the doctors, nurses and media
representatives Ravi Ponangi and Mahadev Desai. She further
thanked supporting sponsors; the team of physicians, nurses,
students and dedicated volunteers who together helped make the
Health Fair a big success. The mission of the SAI Health Fairs
is to create an awareness of the importance of preventive health
care among the public-detection, prevention and cure. Too often
you hear someone say, “if only we had known all of this could
have been prevented.”
SAI Health Fairs are shining beacons of outreach of medical
services and vehicles of social service and welfare for the
disabled, aged, and needy and neglected in the society. Inspired
by Dr.Sujatha Reddy’s compassion, dedication and commitment,
many selfless physicians, Health Care professionals, volunteers,
Community and Faith-based organizations have joined their hands
in successfully staging these Health Fairs. Most of the
physicians, nurses and volunteers on her team have been
participating over and over again.
