Global Art
Annual Competition
Global Art held the award ceremony for its Annual Competition on
Mother’s Day, May 8t h at the Impact Center in Global Mall. The
Annual Competition was held at each of Global Art’s three
centers (Suwanee, Alpharetta, Norcross) in the weeks before.
Students were split into groups A, B, and C based on their skill
level and had two hours to complete their work. The Annual
Competition is held each year as a sort of assessment for the
students.
The award ceremony began with parents and students viewing the
competition artwork displayed on the walls of the Global Art
center inside Global Mall. Students all wore their Global Art
t-shirts to the event and were excited to see if they had won
any awards. As soon as all the students attending the event had
gathered on-stage in the Impact Center, the event began.
Global
Art Director Sudha Gopalakrishnan opened the ceremony with a
warm welcome and discussed the importance of art in today’s
society. Soon after, the award distribution began. Winning
students from each group lined up in front of the stage to see
if they had won the consolation, runner-up, third place, second
place, or Group Champion award. Special awards were given to
students who had won art competitions outside of Global Art,
such as Doodle4Google State Finalist Anika Vennel and Shakerag
Elementary Agenda Contest winner Pooja Manekar. The rest of the
students were also individually recognized with a participation
trophy for their hard work. The parents eagerly waited as their
children held their trophy high on stage. The event ended with
Mother’s Day cake and refreshing snacks and drinks.

Students are now looking forward to working hard through the
summer and getting ready for the National Competition held in
October 2011. The winner of the National Competition will
receive a free roundtrip ticket to participate in Global Art’s
International Competition held in one of the 17 countries Global
Art has centers in. Last year, the International Competition was
held in India. This year, the National Competition Champion will
be traveling to Vietnam to participate in this grand
competition.
