In the current tough economic environment, Georgia Association
of Physicians of Indian Origin (GAPI) and SAI Health Fair, two
eminent Organizations in the healthcare field ought to be lauded
for organizing two more humanitarian outreach programs in
Atlanta for the community.
SAI Health Fair’s well-known Founder, Dr.Sujatha Reddy in Macon,
GA., has organized a SAI Health Fair and Bone Density Drive at
the Impact Conference Center, Global Mall, Norcross, GA.; on
Sunday, March 27, 2011, The Health Fair sponsored by GAPI, and
supported by Global Mall and Sneham Charities, is organized as a
tribute to the life and legacy of Mahatma Gandhi and also to
promote his and Dr. Martin Luther King’s philosophies of
Non-violence, community service and Social justice.
The Health Fair will be open from 8.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m.
Immediately thereafter, there will be an inauguration ceremony
of the GAPI Volunteer Clinic, in #736 of the same building,
presided over by its Executive Director, Dr.Sujatha Reddy and
Co-Director,GAPI President Dr.Sreeni Gangasani and graced by the
presence of highly respected Congressman Dr.Tom Price,(R-GA).
Dr.Price has been serving the 6th District of GA since 2004, and
has played a very commendable role in strengthening the health
care and education in the State.
Atlanta’s well known and respected Cardiologist with
Cardiovascular Group, PC, in Gwinnett County; Dr.Sreeni
Gangasani, imbued with his unflagging drive, compassion,
volunteerism and concern for the health and well-being of the
less fortunate members of the community said that the Clinic
will provide much needed healthcare assistance to the poor,
uninsured or under-insured community members on a regular basis.
“We are planning on having the clinic first Saturday of each
month from 11.00 a.m. to 3-00 p.m. to start with and later on
increase it to twice a month and eventually to every weekend.
Labs will be done at nominal price by American Clinical labs. We
will have two doctors staffing the clinic each time. GAPI
members, nurses, and volunteers from community will be providing
the requisite support to the clinic. And the State has a program
to cover the liability insurance. We are also working on getting
web based electronic medical records to the clinic. Mr. Jay
Shankar and his team of volunteers are helping us with
scheduling and running the clinic. Seena Mathew and her team of
volunteer nurses from Gwinnett Medical Center are going to
provide nursing help. The phone number of the clinic will be
notified as soon as available. I wish to thank the Global Mall
owner and philanthropist Shiv Aggarwal for his generosity in
offering the Clinic accommodation. I would like to strongly urge
the community members to attend the SAI Health Fair as well as
the inauguration ceremony of the Clinic and subsequently to
support the Clinic in whatever form they can”;Dr. Gangasani
said.
Dr.Gangasani who after becoming President has signed more than
forty life members is appealing young physicians to become GAPI
members and play a proactive role in the organization. As an
incentive, for a limited time, GAPI members can become The
American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI) s
members at half price.
GAPI will also be organizing its Annual Meeting cum a glitzy
banquet and entertainment night at the Crowne Plaza,Atlanta
Perimeter at Ravinia,Atlanta,on Saturday,April 30. Dr.Gangasani
is exhorting all the GAPI members to attend the event and avail
of the opportunity to interact with other members, visit various
booths for healthcare related products and services, listen to
dignitary speakers, enjoy delicious snacks and dinner and
fun-filled entertainment. GAPI directory of all the members will
be distributed at the event, and the GAPI Charitable Foundation
will be awarding scholarships to undergraduate and graduate
students. All those interested in placing an advertisement in
the Directory, or in attending the Annual Meeting are requested
to visit www.gapi.org and to contact any Executive officers via
e-mail or telephone, and RSVP by April 15.
“I cannot over emphasize that this is a critical time for GAPI
and the medical profession at large, so GAPI needs unflinching
support for making its presence felt and its voice heard in the
healthcare sector,” he stressed. |
