Shahid on Doosra Kinara

Doosra Kinara is a journey we all undertake from the moment we realize we ought to be someplace else, to the moment when we arrive at that millstone and look back at the long and arduous journey that brought us there. Doosra Kinara can be many things to different people, but the real question is, what happens when one completes the journey and reaches Doosra Kinara?

I was always intrigued by man's search for something outside of himself and I've always wanted to know what happens when he or she gets what he was searching for? Who keeps a tab on what was lost and missed during the time our minds and hearts were occupied with Doosra Kinara? My film is an attempt to answer these questions.
I had written a feature length script "Tarkash:, and wanted to shoot, but a friend suggested that I do a short film instead. The idea was to discover talent in Atlanta area and make a team. Thus, the project took a different direction and led me to some of the finest people a man could ever work with. I am truly blessed to have met tand work with them while making Doosra Kinara.

Doosra Kinara has a ghazal composed by Apurva Shrivastava and sung by Bhupinder ji. It was a

dream come true to have Bhupinder ji sing my words, as I grew up on his songs like "Dil Dhoondta hai" and "Ek Akela is shahr main". Doosra Kinara's entire cast including the lead pair Vikas Saini and Krisi Huthcinson, are from Atlanta and the surrounding areas.

The journey has just begun for me, and there are many films and many more premiers before I can say that I have reached my Doosra Kinara of becoming a storyteller - a filmmaker. This is my first step and I would like to share it with you all. Come, celebrate and bless this much-awaited event with my awesome team and see what a bunch of determined Atlantans can do....
