The Film Festival of India is organized by the High Museum of Art and co-sponsored by GIACC and the Indo American Film Society with the support and partnerships with various corporate sponsors and community organizations like IMAGE Film & Video Center. The popularity of the High’s Film Festival of India is expected to attract over 3,000 viewers to 8 screenings and it reaches an exceedingly diverse audience from across metro Atlanta.

 

Now in its 5th year, the Film Festival of India at High Museum of Art, Atlanta (www.high.org) has evolved into one of the premier festivals for Indian Cinema in the USA. The film festival will present recent and acclaimed feature films from Indian Cinema. To enhance the audience’s experience of the films, this year’s Festival features two visiting filmmakers (Buddhadeb Dasgupta from Calcutta, India and Shonali Bose from California, USA) and a famous will bring viewers together in celebration of the artistry of Indian cinema.

 

GIACC is pleased to invite you to a special event for the fifth annual Film Festival of India. To meet and greet film actor Lisa Ray (Voted by readers of the Times of India as one of the "Top Ten Most Beautiful Women of the Millennium in India", and as a "Star of the Future" at the 2002 Toronto International Film Festival) and distinguished guests from Indian Embassy/Consulate and sponsoring organizations.

 

This event will provide you an excellent opportunity to learn more about India’s Film Industry and sponsoring organizations. The Reception will be held at the beautiful meeting room of Arnall Golden Gregory LLP located at the 171, 17th Street NW Suite 2100, Atlanta, Georgia 30363-1031. (Phone 404.873.8500). On Tuesday, April 25, 2006, from 6:00-7:30 PM. Delicious Indian and American food will be served with hosted bar.

Voted by readers of the Times of India as one of the "Top Ten Most Beautiful Women of the Millennium in India", and as a "Star of the Future" at the 2002 Toronto International Film Festival, Lisa Ray is one of the most successful cover models in Asia, She was born and raised in Toronto of Polish/Bengali heritage and began her modeling career during a trip to India while she was a high school student. After working in television and music videos, she made her feature debut in the thriller Kasoor (2001). Her first film with director Deepa Mehta was the hit romantic comedy Bollywood/Hollywood (2002).

After shooting the independent British/U.S. co-production Arrangement, a romantic comedy about arranged Indian marriages, Ray moved to London to study acting and earned her post-graduate degree from the Academy of Live and Recorded Arts in 2004.
