Dr. Ganesh Devy
Writer, Activist and Founder BHASHATrust, Baroda, India.

Friday, 3rd June 2005, 7.00 pm

White Hall 110, Emory University

Dr. Ganesh Devy, a writer and activist based in Baroda, India works with adivasis (indigenous people). In 1996, Dr. Devy founded “Bhasha”, an organization that works on preserving indigenous culture, heritage and livelihood. In recent months, Dr. Devy has been working with the Govt. of India on the draft National Policy for Tribals, which will impact the millions of adivasis in the country, their relationships with the forests where they live, and how they will control (or lose control of) the natural resources on their lands. Such is the impact of Bhasha's work with the adivasis that Dr. Devy won the Prince Klaus award for … from the Dutch government.
