ceremony will be across the street in Freedom Hall at the King
Center, and will begin at 7:15 pm, to be followed by a reception
and refreshments.
India’s Ambassador to US, H.E. Ronen Sen, will deliver the
Keynote Address. King Center CEO, Isaac Farris will preside the
Tribute to Gandhi and King in company of prominent leaders of
USA. Congressman John Lewis and Ambassador Andrew Young have
also been invited. The Gandhi Foundation Humanitarian Service
Awards will be presented to Ma Jaya Sati Bhagavati of the Kashi
Foundation, and to the major humanitarian organization, CARE.
This year’s observance is particularly special because the
United Nations have declared the Birth Anniversary of Mahatma
Gandhi to be the annual International Day of Non-Violence. Our
Program this year is in honor of the late Coretta Scott King,
whose inspiration and support made the creation of the Gandhi
Foundation USA possible.
