Madhuri Vemulapalli dies in car
accident
An amiable volunteer of the VIBHA family
By Ravi R. Ponangi
Atlanta, GA: Not only the volunteers of Vibha in Atlanta and
across other action centers but the entire Indian community in
Atlanta were plunged in grief hearing the tragic death of
Madhuri Vemulapalli, wife of Vijay Vemulapalli, a well known
community leader in Atlanta. Madhuri died early Wednesday on
Oct. 28 in a car accident on her way to work. She was 40.
Madhuri has been an inseparable part of Vibha organization for
13 years, ever since the inception of the Atlanta action center.
She was deeply committed to the cause and had lent able support
to Vijay who is Vibha US Secretary and Vibha India President.
She was an amiable host to Vibha volunteers during Vibha
programs and her presence spread cheers all round. She always
participated in the Vibha Dream Mile and unfailingly walked away
with a trophy.
Madhuri was compassionate and her genial personality and
unostentatious ways endeared her to many. She was a prolific
traveler and had visited countries across Europe, South America,
and Asia accompanied by her family. She did everything in her
life with passion, and with an indomitable will to succeed. All
her friends tearfully acknowledged that Madhuri had been a role
model and the like of her they will never see again. All her
family, friends and associates and the entire Atlanta community
will dearly miss her for ever.
Madhuri is survived by her husband, Vijay and daughter, Divya
(8). She was a resident of Atlanta for the past 15 years.
Madhuri, along with her husband Vijay, strived indefatigably to
promote the cause of VIBHA, a charity organization for
underprivileged children. Madhuri and Vijay are IT executives
and have been volunteers of Vibha since 1993. They have played
crucial roles in the many-sided growth and development of the
Organization. Madhuri’s parents air-dashed to Atlanta from India
on hearing the tragic news. Her only brother lives in Atlanta.
Memorial service and visitation will be
held on Sat. Oct. 31 from 3:00 – 4:00 PM. at Wages & Sons
Funeral Homes, 1031 Lawrenceville, GA 30046. Phone:
770-277-4550.
As a fitting tribute to Madhuri and her simplistic lifestyle,
the family is requesting mourners to desist from sending flowers
to honor the departed.
