Natural disasters and life threatening diseases are something we
can’t often control. Many of these troubles cause disorder and
turmoil for persons’ life. And when something catastrophic is to
strike, people from all over the world lend a hand, and open
their heart to the ill-fated who have experienced a grievous
occurrence. A diverse blend of races and ethnicities join to
support a cause and make a difference in the world. But the key
question to be asked is, “Where are the Indian-Americans amongst
these charitable people to be seen?” Is it the matter of fact
that we have to think numerous times before opening our wallets,
or is it that we have bigger priorities on our list of greed?
For many, it is always extremely depressing to see very few
Indians contribute their generosity to the society which has
provided us with equal opportunities. As being a part of a
different community, we are obligated to put forth our effort
and contribute to the less fortunate who are in need of a new
life. As Indians, we represent our country, and how far
generosity and humanity can bring a person in life. This may not
be true in all cases. In actuality, there are plenty of Indians
who are very involved in these world-led organizations. Indians
have started associations in many parts of America dedicated to
humanitarian relief, which is a very rewarding cause. Yet it’s
not enough to signify the benevolence of our Indian-American
community.
We have been given the opportunity to start a new life in a
country where anything is possible; and where we are able to
conquer the goals we aspire to. We should not forget that
America has provided us with numerous benefits and has opened
many doors to the future of our lives. It seems as just we want
to prosper more and disregard the unrest happening outside our
own lives. But, where will this get us life? Would we rather sit
on our abundance and waste our purpose our earth, than offer
some of our wealth to the underprivileged?
Luxury cars, houses, extravagant vacations, modern technology,
and up-scale clothing, is what most of our lives revolve around.
We often don’t take the time to consider the miseries of others.
“When our lives are perfect, what else matters?,” is the way a
number of our mentalities work. Or is it the matter of fact that
this country isn’t ours, therefore we have to no promise to this
land or its people? As for others, it’s the simple difficulty of
finding a charity to begin with.
However it is also vital to take into consideration what your
priorities are in relation to what your capacity is to make a
difference. Help others to the extent as you deem appropriate.
As a community, it is necessary to change our perspective on the
world. We need to understand what is in our ability to make a
difference in other people’s life for the better.
