Soujanya Madhusudan conferred with Bharatha
Muni Award

Soujanya Madhusudan , art director at the Atlanta based Bharatha
Darshana, School of Indian Classical Dance & Music was recently awarded the
‘Bharatha Muni award’ for her professional contribution towards
preserving, nurturing & promoting the traditional Indian Classical dance art.The
award was presented to her by by the Karnataka Nritya Kala Parishat on India’s
70th Republic Day Jan 26 2020 in Bengaluru.

At the forefront of a new generation of Bharatanatyam dancers, Mrs. Soujanya
Madhusudan represents the future of the ancient art form - Bharatanatyam. Being
a firm believer in maintaining the integrity of tradition, Soujanya explores her
creativity without compromising on the classicism of the dance form. Soujanya
Madhusudan belongs to a family of legendary artists and is trained under the
keen eyes of prominent gurus in this field like Guru Nagamani Srinivasa Rao,
Padmashree Adyar K Lakshman, Sri Balagopal, Smt.Kalanidhi Narayanan. She
practices the Kalakshetra bani of Bharatanatyam.
Guru Soujanya Madhusudan is the Artistic Director of the 30 year old premiere
classical performing arts school ‘Bharatha Darshana’.
Soujanya’s immaculate and graceful movements and her subtle yet communicative
expressions have won the admiration of laymen and connoisseurs alike. Her
performances have taken her across the globe. Dance and Music festivals
organized by ICCR, Ponniah dance festival, Cleveland Tyagaraja Aradhana-Ohio,
SPICMACAY - Texas & Pennsylvania, Flute and feet- Minnesota, Natya festival-
St.Louis, RASIKA- Oregon, Samanvaya, VRC dance festival, Sai Nrityotsava, NRI
dance festival, Nadaneerajanam at Tirumala Tirupathi, Festival of India by IACA
Georgia etc add to the colorful array of her solo & thematic performances.
Bharatha Darshana holds the certificate of participation by Guinness World
records for the largest Bharatanatyam dance at Chidambaram.

She has performed and presented lecture demonstrations at Drexel University,
Rice University, Texas A&M, Penn state to name a few. She has been actively
promoting bharatanatyam through ‘Adventure into arts’ program to school children
and has been invited by various school districts and public libraries across the
US.
She is the member of CID (Internationale council de dance) UNESCO and is also a
brand ambassador for Hidden Idol- an international platform to nourish dance
forms in young minds in and outside the US. She is the Atlanta regional
coordinator for SAPTAMI - an Indian classical dance and music competitions to
promote the art form among children in the USA.
As a dancer, choreographer, and educator with a community arts focus, She
teaches with energy, investment and integrity, while creating an environment
that promotes discovery through dance.
She teaches at her dance studios in Cumming, GA; Houston & Pearland TX. From
past 10 years she has been successful in imparting this beautiful art form to
students across USA, UK, India, NZ and Middle East countries through live online
classroom sessions.
She is recipient of many prestigious awards like Singaramani, Creative
choreographer awards, Asthana Nartaki etc..
